I don’t believe you need a degree in mathematics or engineering to be healthy. I don’t believe in counting calories, carbs, meals, or ounces of water. I won’t give you lists of foods you can’t eat or have to eat. Humans are the only mammals on the planet that don’t seem to be able to eat intuitively. We have used our big brains to complicate things so much that we are completely out of touch with the instincts we were born with. I believe that you can reconnect with your body and learn to listen to its cues. I believe you can get to a place where you can just eat, and be healthy. I believe you can enjoy food, savor it without guilt, and revel in the wonderful miracle that is your body. I want that for you.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I don’t believe in the USDA Food Pyramid or MyPlate (*gasp*). I don’t believe that what we need is to be told what to eat. What we need to do is to clean out our bodies of all the junk we have been fed, and to learn to listen. Your body is a wonderful, magical thing and will tell you what it needs. What you need will be different than what anyone else will need. I am trained in all of the major dietary theories and can help you explore which one might be right for you, or I can help you realize that none of them are just right for you. So whatever you are into or want to know more about from gluten-free to lacto-ovo-tarianism to Pegan (Paleo-vegan?- this is a thing) to the beautiful world of fermented foods, I can help. I specialize in “paleo”, low-carb, “real foods” or “clean eating”, or traditional/ancestral foods, but can really help tailor anything to fit you! First, we have to get a few things straight.
So, here are the Real, Simple Basics:
- Cut the Crap! – Ditch the processed food, nasty oils, chemical cocktails, and sugar, sugar, SUGAR.
- Keep it Real – Focus on eating REAL foods, as close to the way God made them as you can.
- Keep it Simple – We humans are good at complicating things but sometimes it is necessary to jump back to the simplest form. Over-complicating this stuff makes it very challenging to sustain real change in your real life.
- Enjoy the Ride! – Your life doesn’t start after you lose the weight. Your life has already started, time to jump in! There is nothing that should keep you from appreciating your self, your body, and your life for what they are RIGHT NOW. Goals are good, but you must have fun with the journey. If you wait until you “get there”, you’ll miss the whole show.
